Visiting and buying

Do I need an appointment?

Not on weekdays. Stop in Monday through Friday, 7am to 5pm, and someone will walk the showroom with you.

Saturdays are different. We’re open 7:30am to noon and it’s our busiest stretch, so we recommend scheduling ahead if you want one-on-one time with a salesperson rather than browsing on your own. You can book a showroom visit here.

Where are you and what are your hours?

2770 South Ashland Avenue, Green Bay, WI 54304. Get directions.

  • Monday through Friday: 7:00am to 5:00pm
  • Saturday: 7:30am to noon
  • Sunday: closed
Do you sell to homeowners, or only to contractors?

Both. Homeowners, builders, masons, designers and property managers all buy from us. You don’t need to be in the trade, and you don’t need a contractor to come with you. Walk in and we’ll help you.

Can I get samples to take home?

Yes. We keep samples of most brick and stone lines in the showroom and you’re welcome to take them home to see how they look against your siding, trim and roof in natural light. Colors read very differently indoors under showroom lighting than they do on the side of a house.

Selection and installation

Fireplaces

Do you install the fireplaces you sell?

Yes. We sell, install and service, which means one company is accountable for the whole job instead of you coordinating between a supplier and a separate installer. Installation estimates are free.

How long does it take to get a fireplace installed?

We’re currently booking new fireplace installs about 5 to 7 weeks out from the date the order is placed.

That moves with the season and with whether your unit is in stock or has to be ordered in. It stretches once October hits, when everyone in Northeast Wisconsin thinks about their fireplace in the same three weeks. So if you have a date in mind, work backward from these:

  • Order by September 30 to be burning before Thanksgiving.
  • October orders are generally targeting December.
  • November orders are realistically January.

Those are targets rather than guarantees, and they’re the honest version rather than the optimistic one. The best thing you can do is not wait for the first cold night. That’s the week everyone else calls too.

Gas, wood or electric. Which one do I want?

Gas is the most common choice. Push a button, get heat, no hauling wood or cleaning out ash. Most models still run during a power outage. It needs a gas line and venting.

Wood gives you the real fire, the real crackle, and heat that doesn’t depend on the utility. It asks more of you: wood storage, ash removal, and annual chimney maintenance.

Electric installs almost anywhere with no venting and no gas line, which makes it the practical answer for basements, condos, bedrooms and remodels where running vent pipe isn’t realistic. Treat it as supplemental heat, not a primary heat source.

If you’re unsure, that’s exactly what the showroom is for. We can run several units side by side so you can see the flame and feel the heat before you decide.

Can you put a gas insert into my existing wood fireplace?

Yes, and it’s one of the most common projects we do. An insert slides into your existing masonry firebox and vents up the existing chimney with a liner, so you keep the opening and the surround you already have while gaining push-button operation and far better efficiency.

We need to see the existing opening to confirm fit. Send photos and the firebox dimensions with your pricing request and we can usually tell you quickly whether it’s straightforward.

What brands do you carry?

Gas and wood: Heat & Glo, Heatilator, Kozy Heat, Kingsman, Marquis, Town & Country, Flare, Stellar, and Vermont Castings wood stoves. Browse them all under Fireplaces.

What a fireplace actually costs

What does an installed fireplace typically cost?

More than most people expect, and less than some fear. Rather than make you call to find out, here is what our work actually runs. These are real figures from our current pricing, not marketing numbers.

What you’re after Range Average
Gas logs in your existing wood fireplace around $2,100 $2,100
Gas insert into an existing fireplace $4,900 to $7,300 $6,350
Wood insert into an existing fireplace $6,000 to $7,000 $6,500
Traditional direct vent gas fireplace $2,600 to $9,100 $5,900
Contemporary linear gas fireplace $3,500 to $24,400 $11,000
Freestanding gas stove $4,600 to $7,300 $6,200
Wood burning fireplace $4,800 to $17,600 $12,700
Outdoor fireplace around $10,200 $10,200

Includes the fireplace, the venting, and our installation labor. Does not include stone or brick facing material and mantel, delivery, chase top flashing if your chase needs one, travel beyond 25 miles, or tax.

Facing is quoted separately because it depends entirely on the material you pick and how much wall you’re covering.

The contemporary linear category has by far the widest spread. A Cosmo series fireplace sits near the bottom, while a large Flare or Stellar frameless unit sits at the top. If you’re drawn to that look, the showroom is the fastest way to find out where in that range your project lands.

Pricing current as of July 2026. Costs move when our manufacturers change theirs, so treat these as a planning guide rather than a quote. We’ll give you a firm number for your actual project.

Existing fireplaces

Service and repair

Will you service a fireplace you didn’t install?

Yes. We service all brands. During the fall and winter, we prioritize fireplaces purchased through Gagnon, so customers with units bought elsewhere may have a longer wait. If you need service, contact us and we’ll let you know what scheduling looks like.

What does a service call cost?

Peak season, September through March:

  • First hour, within 25 miles: $249
  • Each additional hour: $90
  • Each additional fireplace at the same visit: $119

Off-peak, April through August:

  • First hour, within 25 miles: $169
  • Each additional hour: $90

Installation estimates are always free.

When is the best time to schedule maintenance?

April through August, without question. You’ll pay less, you’ll get on the schedule faster, and you’ll find out about a failed part in June rather than on the first cold night in November when every fireplace in the county needs attention at once.

How often should a fireplace be serviced?

Once a year for gas units, ideally before heating season. Annual service catches worn gaskets, dirty burners, weak pilot assemblies and glass that needs resealing before any of it turns into a no-heat call in January. Wood-burning units also need the chimney inspected and swept on a schedule that depends on how much you burn.

Material supply

Brick and stone

Do you do the masonry work, or just sell the material?

We sell the material. We don’t install it.

Brick, stone, pavers and cut stone are supplied from our yard for you or your mason to set. We’ll help you work out quantities, pick a product that suits the application, and get it delivered, but the masonry labor itself isn’t something we take on.

Fireplaces are the exception. Those we sell, install and service ourselves.

Can you match the brick on my existing house?

Often, though it depends on the age of the original. Bring a full brick if you can pull a loose one, or clear photos taken in daylight next to something for scale.

Older brick frequently has no exact current match. When that happens we’ll help you find the closest available option, or plan a deliberate contrast that reads as intentional rather than as a failed match.

Getting a number

Estimates and quotes

What do you need from me to put a price together?

The more of this you send up front, the faster and more accurate the number:

  • Photos of the space, including the wall and any existing fireplace
  • Rough dimensions of the opening or the wall you’re working with
  • Whether gas is already run to the location
  • New construction or existing home, and if new, the building plan
  • Your target timeline and budget range

You can attach photos and plans directly to the pricing request form.

Do you charge for estimates?

Installation estimates are free. Diagnostic service calls on an existing fireplace are billed at the rates listed above, because that’s a technician’s time spent finding the problem rather than a salesperson’s time measuring a wall.
